A smile makeover is a general term that basically means a smile makeover. It's a new smile. It could be veneers, it could be an all-on-4, it could be a denture. It's a way for us to change someone's smile instantly or over the next couple of months. It could be a combination thereof. A lot of misconceptions out there that smile makeover or Hollywood smile is only veneers, and that's far from the truth. It's basically just a terminology, but any kind of restoration that we do is a smile makeover.
The way we design a smile starts with a conversation with a patient. Every patient has their own character. If I give you teeth that don't match your character, even if they look pretty in photo, but when you're talking, and you're exaggerating, and you have movements and the way your lip moves and your facial structure moves, if that smile does not fit within all that and creates a harmony, then it's going to feel off. Then we take some photos, some intraoral scans, and we design 3D digitally how the smile needs to look.
Most of the time, we try it in the mouth before we even touch a tooth, or we start preparation or anything. The patient gets an idea of what the final is going to look like before we even start prepping the teeth. Then based on that, we move forward. Whether it's a crown, a veneer, an onlay, an implant, an all-on-4, a denture, everything from surgery to restorative, we're able to do all in one location.
Most of the smile makeovers usually takes a combination of these things. Rather than having the patient go to do the surgery somewhere else, then come back and do the veneer somewhere else, we're able to do and combine all these different techniques in one location, which means more comfort for the patient, and more importantly, more predictability for the outcome.
Smile makeover changes patients' life drastically. It allows them to be more confident, gives them the smile that they need. It gives them the ability to tackle the world in a way that they were not able to before they get it.
