The all-on-4 concept changed everything that we know that was possible in dentistry.
Hi, I'm Dr. Faraj. I'm a Surgical Prosthodontist here in Lubbock, Texas. I'm the owner of Eleve Cosmetic & Implant Center. All-on-4 is a treatment modality that allows us to give a full set of teeth on four to six implants. It allows the whole care to be a lot more conservative, allows us to do less grafting, avoid sinuses, avoid nerves by angulating implants. Overall, it's a simplified approach to give a new set of teeth.
The all-on-4 differs from traditional dentures in many aspects, mainly the quality of life. Dentures have to come in and out. They're basically a piece of plastic with teeth on it that sits on top of the tissue. Also, the chewing efficiency of dentures drops from 100 to about 30%, so there's going to be a lot of foods where you're not going to be able to eat or chew.
The day that we extract the teeth, we're able to place the implants and give teeth that same day. The patient is never going to go without teeth. They're getting fixed teeth the same day as the surgery. There's no denture adhesive. There's nothing that comes in and out. It's a horseshoe prosthesis that functions just like your natural teeth did.
Here at Eleve Dental, we only offer zirconia as our final restoration. We do not offer acrylic because we believe zirconia is going to be the best long-term solution for our patients. I don't want teeth popping off. I don't want food accumulation. I want the patient to tackle the world, be able to do whatever it is that they want to do.
An ideal candidate for all-on-4 is anyone that is in need of a new set of teeth. That could be someone that has no teeth, or that could be someone that has hopeless dentition. The main feedback we get from our patients that undergo all-on-4 surgery is how life-changing the whole experience has been. It improves their social life, their mental health, their overall health. They are a better person because now they have the confidence to face the world without being shy or embarrassed of their smile. They're able to eat whatever they want to eat, so their overall health actually improves quite a lot.
