Snap-on Dentures

Description

Snap-on dentures are secured to two implants, so they sit more stably and comfortably than traditional dentures with little need for adhesive. Dr. Faraj often recommends them for the lower jaw and for older patients who want a less intensive procedure. It's a solid middle-ground option between dentures and full All-on-4.

Mohaad Faraj Another treatment modality that we offer at Eleve Dental is a snap-on denture, or an overdenture, where we place two implants, and the denture snaps in place. That is usually a lot more comfortable than traditional dentures. There's a lot less need for denture adhesive. It's definitely not as good as full fixed All-on-4 restoration, but definitely much better than the traditional dentures. I recommend it, especially for older patients, and especially for the lower jaw. The upper jaw, we have the roof of the mouth, so it gets a lot more stability from that. The lower jaw is very thin, so having those two implants allow the denture to be stable. If you cannot afford, or you don't want to go through the procedure to get All-on-4s where you can get fully fixed teeth, then snap-on denture is a good alternative that is midway range. For younger patients, I typically recommend getting the All-on-4, especially on the lower jaw, because bone on the lower jaw resorbs about four times as fast as the upper jaw. If you're 30, let's say in another 20, 30 years, you're not going to have enough bone for us to do many implants at that point. For younger patients, I highly recommend for them to get fully fixed All-on-4s, because that stops the bone resorptions. For older patients, I understand they don't want to go through a more intensive procedure, and a snap-on denture usually is okay.
