Dr. Faraj grew up on a farm in rural Syria, where becoming a doctor was never a dream. In his community, getting a high school diploma was an achievement, but if you didn’t, you likely ended up working in construction. At the age of 14, his life took a turn when his family moved to the United States. Adapting to a new language and culture was difficult, but his father, a contractor, wanted a more stable future for the family. He encouraged them to explore the healthcare field, and Dr. Faraj quickly felt that dentistry was the perfect fit. Because he always enjoyed working with his hands, it felt right to pursue a career where his work was hands-on. He knew he didn’t want to just diagnose; he wanted to make a tangible difference.
